Donnie Pearson Obituary

Donnie M. Pearson, age 88, of Marion passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016, at 11:23 AM at his residence. He was born in Wyandot County, Ohio on July 13, 1927 to the late Raymond and Madge (Spade) Pearson. Donnie married the former Margaret Watt in Vermillion, Ohio on July 15, 1950 and she preceded him in death on September 3, 1993 in Marion. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #70 F&AM, a 32 degree mason, and a Shriner. Donnie served in the U.S.Navy during WWII on the USS Lexington. He sponsored the Pearson Brothers Fast Pitch Softball Team and for a 15 year period from 1958 - 1973 the team was one of the state's most outstanding teams. In 1988 he was installed into the Ohio Softball Hall of Honor for his work with the team. Donnie also sponsored several midget auto racing and drag racing teams throughout his life. He was owner & operator of Pearson's Auto Sales for 42 years, retiring in 1997. Surviving are his daughter; Joyce Bishop of Marion, OH., three grandchildren; Cheryl A. (Jeff) Gandert of Caledonia, OH., Debra Langdon of Marion, OH., & Bob Bishop of Marion, OH., five great grandchildren; Jennifer Segrest, Daniel (Sarah) Langdon, Andy Gandert, Chandler Bishop, & Montana Rosales, two great great grandchildren; Hudson Gandert & Dylan Langdon, and several nieces & nephews. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Margaret, and three brothers; Ed, Omer, & Glenn Pearson. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Thursday, April 28, 2016, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Rev. Paul Service will conduct the funeral service on Friday at 10:00 AM in the funeral home with burial to follow in the Marion Cemetery. The Marion Co. Veterans Council will provide military rites at the cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Heartland Hospice Program or to the Marion Area Humane Society.
