Sherry Dillinger Obituary
Sherry L. (Koontz) Dillinger, age 66 of Marion, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Marion General Hospital. She was born on August 8, 1951. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ruth (Beck) Koontz.
Sherry attended Harding High School and graduated in 1969. She then pursued higher education at Marion Technical College. She worked in the field of accounting for 30-plus years, first as a managerial accountant at GTE, then as the account payable clerk for Wal-Mart. Sherry had a head for numbers and could run a tight ship.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Dillinger. Their time on Earth was short, but now they get to spend eternity together in heaven. Sherry would best be described by the word "love." She loved fiercely, her Lord, her family, and her friends.
Sherry leaves behind two children: Shannon (Jerry) Smith of Marion and Ronald (BJ McGinnis) Sission, also of Marion. Sherry was the world's best NaNa! She will be loved goggle by Jessie (Stephen) Harbolt, Austin Smith, Sierra Collins, Jarrod Smith, Ruthie Smith, Macy Craddock, Frank Craddock, and Kaylee McGinnis. Sherry had four great-grandchildren: Alex, Lydia, Mitchell, and Ellie. Sherry is the baby of the family and always loved that fun fact. Surviving siblings are Bill (Connie) Koontz, Yogi (Michael) Holback, and Pamela Koontz.
Lastly we are grateful for two special people who were in Sherry's life. First, her best friend Marge Taylor, who was her partner in crime and the frick to mom's frack. And Fred Starner, her faithful companion who loved her to the moon and back. He cherished her till her last breath, and in doing so, won our hearts forever. Till we meet again, momma. We all love you and will miss you dearly.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Services will take place on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 11 AM at Rise Church, 2434 Smeltzer Rd., Marion. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery.
