William Thatcher Obituary

William L. (Bill) Thatcher went to his heavenly home on Saturday, May 19, 2018. He was born on December 2, 1939 to the late Earl R. and Mildred L. (O'Dowd) Thatcher, the third of four sons.
Bill attended the Marion City Schools, and graduated from Harding High School in 1959. Bill met the love of his life, Judith Castanien, while they were they were in high school, and they were married on September 30, 1961. Together they raised two wonderful sons, Jeffrey and Larry Thatcher.
Bill worked at many places over the years, including Todco Door, Plant City Steel, and the Marion County Sheriff's Department, until he retired in 2001.
Bill and Judy loved to be out and about. They were always on the go, whether it be riding around on their scooters, visiting with friends, hanging out at the Senior Center, or traveling to see their family. They spent time in Florida with their son Jeff and his family and also in Rhode Island with their son Larry's family.
Bill was a wonderful friend to many and the ultimate practical joker! He loved to pull pranks on his buddies, but most of all, he loved to laugh and to make others laugh. You would rarely see Bill without a smile on his face.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Judy, of Marion and his sons, Jeff (Amy) of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and their daughter Caitlyn; and Larry (Esther) and their children Adam and Megan, of Coventry, Rhode Island. He also leaves behind two brothers, Richard (Phyllis) Thatcher of Marion and Michael (Sherry) Thatcher of Huron and countless nieces and nephews. His older brother Robert Thatcher preceded him in death.
According to Bill's wishes, a graveside service will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 12 noon at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens in Marion. The Boyd-Born Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the family.
Family and friends may make donations to OhioHealth Hospice of Marion County in Bill's name or to Grand Prairie Baptist Church, where he attended church.
