As new coronavirus strains travel around the globe, it’s not always easy to know what to do to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. In many areas of the U.S., public gatherings have continued to be discouraged. We're not restricting gathering but leaving those sensitive decisions up to each family. We will work with those decisions to provide the best possible outcomes for all.

Meanwhile, death waits for nothing or no one. Embalming and open casket viewing are still options and encouraged. Limiting time and numbers of people in close contact is  also still encouraged, and the use of face masks is certainly still an option. Be smart, be safe.

Another option available to families is streaming a video of the funeral or memorial service online. This is a technical solution that allows the closest immediate family members to attend the funeral service in person at the funeral home, while other people participate from home or other facility if they are not able to make it for whatever reason.

The Boyd Funeral Home uses FuneralVue, a company that provides the technology for streaming funeral services here at the funeral home only. We are offering this service, for a minimal charge for all families who choose to hold their service in the funeral home.

We must be able to grieve and mourn while supporting each other even though we’re not in the same place, at the same time. We will continue to be a place of support for our families and community during these changing times.
