We at Boyd Funeral Home take pride in honoring our country's fallen United States Armed Forces men and women. Everyone who has served our country is entitled to a military memorial service or honors ceremony. This is done out of appreciation for their service to our nation and is always a unique and heartfelt service.

A typical military service includes a flag folding, a 21-gun salute, and the playing of Taps. Two or more uniformed military persons will run a portion of the service and will present a surviving family member with the folded flag. Afterwards, the service will be handed back over to our directors for completion of the service.    As an added service to our veterans, Boyd Funeral Home has a unique 1953 "MASH" Army ambulance/hearse to complete the military honors for no extra charge.  

Certain benefits from the Veterans Administration can help you and your loves ones with these services. Through them, eligible veterans and family members can be assisted in burial and cemetery services.

The benefits include military honors at either a funeral or memorial service, a burial at a national veteran's cemetery, a veterans' cemetery marker and a burial flag. Eligible veterans can also receive monetary assistance with a burial at a private cemetery.

For any honorably discharged veteran, a United States burial flag is provided for any ceremony or funeral service. The flag will either be folded and displayed by a cremation urn or draped over a casket for the service as desired. The flag will be honored and given to the next of kin at the end of the service.  (Note: These flags are made only to honor our fallen, not to be flown outside because the material is not meant to handle weather.)  A plastic cover will be provided for the safe-keeping of the flag, or a wooden flag display case can be purchased or included in one of our memorial book packages.

We will work with you and the Veterans Administration to make sure you can obtain these earned benefits. We will display military decals for all branches of the military, and a United States funeral processional flag that goes on the hearse at the time of the service. Also, special customized memorial box sets can be purchased, along with a unique military customized casket or cremation urn, specific to each branch of service, to make for an even more memorable service to honor your loved one.
