Aaron Franklin Unroe

Aaron Franklin Unroe, age 97 of Marion, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at his residence.
Aaron was born on March 9, 1926 to the late Homer L. and Louise (Schuster) Unroe in Prospect, Ohio. On January 22, 1949, he married the late Betty Jo Risner in Angola, Indiana. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage before she passed in February 8, 2016.
Aaron served our country in the United States Navy during the Normandy Landing in WWII. He belonged to the Shining Light Baptist Church. Aaron worked for Armco Steel for 30 years as a Steel worker. He will truly be missed by family and friends.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Betty Jo Unroe; his sisters, Vivian Unroe and Violet Fizet; and his granddaughter, Heather Grannamann.
Those who will cherish his memories include his daughters: Clova (Gary) Novik of Marion, Ohio and Ida (John) Gruber of Marion, Ohio; his son: Patrick (Phyllis) Unroe of Huffman, Texas; his five grandchildren, John(BJ)Unroe, Holly Schaber, Charles Deem, Jamie Clevenger and Kasey Lauren; and his nine great grandchildren.
Friends and family may come to honor Aaron’s life from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 starting at 11am with Pastor Gary Carr officiating and the Marion Area Veterans Council closing with military honors at the funeral home. A burial will follow funeral service at Marion Cemetery. Donations may be given to: Tranquility Hospice, 1949 State Rte 37 W Suite C, Delaware, OH 43015.
