Durwood Leon Johnston

Durwood Leon Johnston, age 67, a lifelong resident of Marion, passed away on July 9, 2019 at Marion Pointe. Durwood was born to the late Billie and Frances (Huffman) Johnston on August 24, 1951. He graduated in 1969 from Elgin High School, getting a chance to recently attend his 50th Class Reunion, reconnecting with several classmates. He worked as a Furniture Refinisher for Grolls Furniture, retiring after 30 years of service.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Those who will miss him the most were the friends with whom he developed strong bonds.

Respecting his wishes, Durwood will be cremated with his ashes to be buried at his mother’s grave at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Elgin High School Athletic Boosters or Kindred Hospice in Durwood’s name.
