Lucille M. McGowan

Lucille M. McGowan of Marion, age 92, passed away after a long illness at the Marion Manor Nursing Home, where she had previously worked. Lucille was born in Zanesville, OH on September 26, 1926 to the late Aloysius H. and Emma M. (Noll) Arnold. She married the late Robert W. McGowan, Sr., on November 19, 1955 at Huntington, IN. Lucille was a 1944 graduate of Marion Catholic High School, working most of her life as a Beautician, both self-employed and at the Marion Manor Nursing Home. Lucille was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and was known for her love of God and family.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Aloysius and Emma; her husband Robert; her sons Robert W. McGowan of Marion, and Marvin McKee of Marion; her brothers Ralph, Don, and Dell Arnold; and her sister Rose Arnold, who was a nun in the church.

She will be missed tremendously by her daughters Susan E. McGowan of Marion, Amber (Zach L.) Weichert of Las Vegas, NV, and 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as several special friends she made through life.

The family invites everyone for visitation from 4 pm to 8 pm, Monday, May 20, at Boyd-Born Funeral Home, 122 W. Columbia St. Closing prayers will be at 8 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Mass will be observed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Marion on Tuesday, May 21, at 10 AM. Father Thomas Buffer shall be officiating. Committal Service will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Marion following Mass.
