Nyoka Sly

Nyoka Sly was called from this earth to join her Heavenly Father on August 29, 2019 at Marion General Hospital after a short illness.  Nyoka was born in West Virginia to  Pearl (Moore) Chaffin and the late Donald Chaffin on June 5, 1949.  At a young age, the family moved to Marion making it their hometown.  In 1965, Nyoka married Bob Sly and they had 4 children together.

Nyoka was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church.  She was a loving mother and homemaker and loved to cook, play euchre, color, fish and take care of her family.  She is preceded in death by her father, a brother, Don (Junior) Chaffin, a sister, Donna Rose, and a son Rodney Sly.  Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Bob, Son, Steve (Diane) Sly of La Rue; daughters, Lisa (Ronald) Young, Joann (Tony) Sly-Foust, of Marion; grandchildren, Trevor, Sharaden, Doni, Hayden, Kelly Marie, Garrett, and Emilee.

Visitation has been planned at the First Freewill Baptist Church on Crissinger Rd. in Marion for Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with the funeral service to follow immediately at 12:00 pm with Jerry Copley officiating.  Burial will take place at the Grand Prairie Cemetery.
