Wendy L. Owen

Wendy Lanell Owen, age 47 of Morral, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. On April 28, 1972, she was born to Wilma Lee (French) and the late Darrill Mason Smith, Sr., in Marion, and on May 26, 1990, she married her husband Philip Wayne Owen.

Wendy enjoyed spending time at the MCABA Bingo Hall, and she also enjoyed scrapbooking and reading, especially romance novels. She worked at Frontier and GTE Verizon in customer relations for 22 years before working at Marcy Industries.

She is survived by her husband Philip of Marion; her sons Jay (Sonia) Owen of Petersburg, Virginia, and Anthony (Lauren) Owen of Kailua, Hawaii; her daughters Karla (Johnny II) Morris of Hickman, Tennessee, and Tiffany (Chris) O’Connor of Marion; her brothers Darrill (Tavah Wright) Smith, Jr., of Marion and Jimmy (Courtney) Smith of Utah; her sisters Shannon (John) Massey and Crystal Smith of Marion; her grandchildren Nathan, Mason, Alyssa, Dylan, Ethan, Connor, Korbin, Nolan, Shae, Taylor, and Chase; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Darrill Smith, Sr., her mother- and father-in-law Ann and Ron Owen, and her grandparents Della Mae French, Esta Howard-French, Vesta Lemaster-Smith, and Elbert “Peanut” Smith.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 3 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at LaRue Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Wendy’s honor to the James Cancer Hospital or to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd., Newark, OH, 43055.
