Clyde Kelly, age 85 of Marion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio.
Clyde entered into this world on June 7, 1933 to the late Harkins and Mertie (Kelley) Kelly in Clintwood, VA. On June 28, 1957, he married the late Marjorie L. Perry in Marion, Ohio.
Clyde served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Then he worked as a tool and die repairman for Eaton Corporation for 37 years. During his time at Eaton, he was a Vice-President of the United Steelworkers Local Chapter and played in the Eaton Golf League. He also loved to do vegetable gardening and taking care of fruit trees. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Oley and Chester Kelly; his sisters: Nina Fleming, Linda Marie Kelly and Hazel Smallwood.
Those who are left to cherish his memory include his daughters: Sandy (Michael) Smith of Columbus, OH and Brenda Hayes of Fitzgerald, GA; his fiancée: Bernice Balch of Marion, OH; his brothers: Danny Joe Kelley of Clintwood, VA, Elzie Kelly of Spotsylvania, VA, Bobby Ray Kelly of Clintwood, VA, Crocket Kelly of Clintwood, VA and Donald Kelly of Clintwood, VA; his sister: Draxie Johnson of Kingsport, TN; his grandchildren: Roxanne Venis, Angela Riddle, Ashley Smith and Christopher Smith; one great grandchild: Samuel; and special friends: Tim (Bobbie) Barber.
Friends and family may come to honor Clyde's life on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 4pm to 7pm at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the funeral home starting at 11am with Pastor Keith Irey officiating and the Marion County Veterans Council to close with a military honor service. Burial will follow at the Maskill Cemetery in Claiborne, Ohio. Donations may be given to the Genesis Church, P.O. Box 2535, Marion, OH 43302-2535.
