Delores "Sally" Ann Chevalier, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home in the presence of her family on January 16, 2019. Sally was born in Marion, Ohio on June 16, 1931 to the late Loretta Faye Wells (Patterson). She attended Marion City Schools. Sally met her husband Jack V. Chevalier, Jr. at the local roller rink after he returned from serving in World War II. They were married on July 11, 1946 in Greenup, KY. Sally worked as a Nurse's Aide at Marion Manor for several years and attended the Marion Seventh Day Adventist Church with her husband Jack.
In 1980, Jack and Sally retired to Heber Springs, Arkansas where they hosted family and friends for many years. While in Arkansas, Sally began perfecting her award-winning cross-stitch and crocheting. Her pictures and blankets are now prized possessions of her children and grandchildren.
After many years and countless memories in Arkansas, Jack and Sally returned to Marion to care for her mother. Sally loved to cook and bake and she made Sunday dinner every week for family and friends. Sally was especially known for her apple dumplings and homemade noodles. Everyone who knew her including her family, friends, and neighbors adored Sally.
Surviving are her sons: Jack V. III (Naomi), Douglas W. (Cheryl), and Martin T. (Tania) Chevalier, all of Marion; her daughter Belinda K. (Paul) Shuster; 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and another great-great granddaughter to arrive in March.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Homer E. Wells, Jr., her son, Charles R. "Charlie" Chevalier, and her son Richard (Cyd) Chevalier, who passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on the morning of her passing. Also preceding her in death were one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
The family will be receiving friends and family to honor Sally's memory on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Boyd-Born Funeral Home, 122 W. Columbia St., in Marion.
