Fairy Shifflet Obituary

Fairy Jean Shifflet, 82, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 16, after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her loving family, including her high school sweetheart and husband of 63 years, James Donald Shifflet. He was always by her side, providing care and comfort for her.
Fairy was born on July 23, 1935, in Ada, Ohio, to Earl and Opal Atha. She was the proud mother of 3 children: Sharon (Shifflet) Boggs, Prospect, Gary (Linda) Shifflet, Marion, and Jeanne (Shifflet) Oliver, who preceded her in death in 2015.
Fairy was also blessed with 5 grandchildren: Christopher (Charlotte) Seitz, Worthington, Robynn Spicer, Prospect, Jimmy Shifflet, Marion, Matthew (Katie) Oliver, Grove City, and Adam (Nickie) Oliver, Pickerington. Her great-grandchildren filled Fairy with pride and joy: Skylar, Devin, and Derek Seitz, Austin and Aubree Spicer, Zoey and Evelyn Oliver, Ruby Oliver, and Mason and Emma Dunn.
Fairy had 2 sisters and a brother, who survive: Mary (Bob) Robinson and Janet (Bill) Thomas of Marion and Jack (Shirley) Atha of Tempe, Arizona.
She had many nephews and nieces, friends, and associates, and was loved by everybody who came into contact with her.
Upon graduation from Morral High School in 1953, Fairy entered the work force at General Telephone of Marion and the Fulfillment Corporation of America. Fairy was employed at Na-Churs Plant Food Company in Marion for 30 years and held several positions of management before retiring in 2000.
While employed full-time at Na-Churs, Fairy received an associate degree in business at Mansfield Business College, graduating with full honors.
For 51 years, she had been a loyal and active member of Fair Park Community Baptist Church, serving on the board and as a member of the Ladies Missionary Group and Choir.
Thank you to Pastor David Rush for his many home visits and to the congregation for their comforting prayers.
The family would like to thank Heartland Home Hospice Care, especially Jennifer, Tracy, Emily, Mattie, MaryBeth, and Chaplain Pam. Their care, friendship, and love for over 1 year enriched the lives of the family and will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 between the hours of 3 PM and 7 PM at the Fair Park Baptist Church, 940 Bermuda Dr., Marion, Ohio. Funeral services will be on the following day, Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 10 PM at Fair Park Baptist Church with Pastor David Rush officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery in Marion, Ohio.
