Genevieve Seckel Obituary
Genevieve Maxine Seckel, age 87 of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at her home. On March 29, 1931, she was born to the late Lewis G. and Florence (Landes) Everly, and on July 6, 1951, she married her husband Richard E. Seckel, who preceded her in death on October 4, 2006.
Genevieve obtained a Bachelor's Degree from the Ohio State University in education. She taught at Marca School for many years before her retirement. She was an avid and expert seamstress, often creating and sewing the costumes for productions at the Palace Theater. Genevieve had a strong, lifelong faith in God, and she was very active in her church. First and foremost was her family who truly enjoyed her baking and delicious desserts.
She is survived by her son Bruce (Lena Manette) Seckel of Marion; her daughter Linda (Scott) Mygrant of Marion; her brother Dwayne Everly; her grandchildren Tabitha, Shannon, Mark (Wei), and Daniel; and her great-grandchildren Jacob, Alexandra, and Brent.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard and her parents Lewis and Florence.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Services will take place on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 11 AM at Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church, 908 E. Center St., Marion, Ohio. Burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Palace Theater, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
