Jessie Mae Koonce

Jessie Mae Koonce, age 82, of Marion passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at 10:40 PM at her residence. She was born in Rocky Mountain, North Carolina on November 11, 1935 to the late Harrison and Maebelle (Chadwick) Wilson. Jessie married Samuel J. Koonce Sr. on November 5, 1952 in Kinston, N.C. and he preceded her in death on July 22, 2010 in Marion, OH. She attended King's Temple Apostolic Church. Jessie was employed with Container Recovery Co. for more than 16 years and was a teacher's aide in the Marion City School system before retiring. Surviving are 3 sons; Samuel J. Koonce Jr. of Toledo, OH., Ronald L. & Christopher A. Koonce both of Marion, OH., 3 daughters; Carolyn Chapman of Kinston, N.C., Kathleen M. Clemons & Priscilla A. Koonce both of Marion, OH., 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and numerous great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Samuel, 2 sons; Nathaniel & Samuel Koonce, 2 grandchildren, 3 brothers, and 1 sister. Friends may call at the King's Temple Apostolic Church on Thursday, July 19, 2018, from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Elder Kathleen Koonce Clemons will conduct the funeral service in the church on Friday at 10:00 AM with burial to follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery.Donations in Jessie's name ay be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
