Sally Stratton, age 76, passed in peace on December 3, 2018. She was born February 13, 1942 in Marion, OH to the late Ory S Patten, who was MIA in WW II, and Ethel M (Smith) Holler; whom later married Paul Holler. She completed her high school education and married her late love Daniel L Stratton Sr. on June 26, 1960 in Claridon, OH. She was a member of the women's auxiliary of the American Legion Post #605 in Waldo, OH.
Sally loved to bake and do embroidery, but her true love was of the Blue Ridge Mountains where she would take each of her granddaughters on the summer after their ninth birthday to enjoy the view with her and her husband - "nine days on your ninth birthday!" Sally was also a cook at the River Valley Schools for 26 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her son Daniel (Mona) L Stratton Jr of Marion, her sister Rosalie (Arden) Welsh of Wheeling, WV; her 4 granddaughters- Amanda Nangle, Susan (Jeremiah) Lough, Larissa Stratton, Valerie (Dean) Mack, and 11 great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends and family from 1 pm - 3 pm Friday, December 7 at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home, 122 W. Columbia St in Marion - please come as you are. The graveside service will immediately follow at the Waldo Cemetery in Waldo, OH with Rev. Nathan McBeth presiding. After the graveside, there will be a memorial dinner at the American Legion Post # 605 in Waldo - the family would appreciate each brings a covered dish. The family requests in lieu of flowers for well wishers to donate to the charity of their choice in memory of Sally. Online condolences may be given through www.boydbornfuneralhome.com.
