Billy Dean Houston, age 82, of Marion, passed from this life to the next on Monday, March 25, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
Billy was born on June 26, 1941 in Quincy, Illinois to the late Ishel and Eva (West) Houston. He was married to Sharon Eblin on April 12, 1959. They had four sons - Tony, Bill, Jeff, and Brian.
Billy proudly served our country in the United States Navy and was stationed on the USS Bearss and USS Murray. He enjoyed tracking down former shipmates about “Naval Reunions.” Billy was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was a patrolman with the Marion Police Department for many years until an injury ended his career.
Billy was a member of Cornerstone Foursquare Church until its relocation and then he began attending Centerpoint Church (Assembly of God). Billy had a strong faith in the saving power of Jesus Christ and his family is confident he is rejoicing in Heaven.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, and three sons, Tony, Bill and Brian; three siblings, Jim, Darlene and Annie. He had five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren who brought him great joy.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeff; his brothers, Don, Bobby and David and sister, Debbie.
A graveside ceremony, officiated by Chaplain Doug Ford, will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 29, at Grand Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice in his honor. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Houston family.
