Carol Lee Lantz, age 91, passed away at Marion General Hospital after a brief illness on July 15, 2026. Carol was born in Green Camp, Ohio on August 28, 1934, to the late Charles Artemus (Art) Furniss, and Bernice Marie (Fryman) Furniss. Carol was a graduate of Caledonia High School. Carol married her late husband Douglas Leroy Lantz at the Caledonia Church of Christ on August 10, 1952, by her great uncle, Rev. Fenton Fish.
After marriage, she worked at Morrow County Hospital as a nurse aide. She furthered her career as a LPN at Med Center Hospital in Marion.
When her husband was transferred to San Angelo, Texas she found a quilting group to join and she was hooked. Making beautiful quilts and winning awards at the county fair. Doug and Carol also had a love for antiques and went to shows where they could buy and sell. They named their business “The Wooden Spool” and enjoyed every show they attended.
Left to cherish the memory of Carol are her daughter, Vickie Robinson and husband Rod, sister Frances Myers, grandchildren, Whitney Sewald, Jared Robinson, Melissa (Joe) Gregory, great grandchildren, Troy, Caleb, Madison, Joey, Leah and Cheyenne.
Also, Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Jeffrey, and Kevin, sister Geraldine Lowery and brother Jack Furniss.
The memorial service will be held at a later time at Crosswood United Methodist Church.
