Dale Dean Bartow, age 90, of Marion, passed away peacefully at Wyndmoor Assisted Living Facility on Friday morning, July 3, 2020.
Dale was born October 18, 1929 in Shawnee, Ohio. He was one of eleven children of the late William and Florence (White) Bartow. Including his parents, Dale was preceded in death by 5 brothers: Samuel, Chester, Willard, William and Dwight Bartow; and 4 sisters: Rene Hook, Ina Mavin, Helen Nance and Authorine MacEachran. His brother, Pastor Donald Bartow of Canton, Ohio is the last living sibling.
He will be missed greatly by his large and loving family. Dale had 4 daughters: Pamela (David) Martin of Westerville, OH, Tracy (Patricio) Argerich of Menifee, CA, Kimberlee (Toby) Foster of Forest, VA, Tanya Patrella of Portland, OR. He also had 10 grandchildren: Davey Martin, Raquel Martin-Radcliff, Joseph Argerich, Michelle Argerich-Valentine, Jessica Argerich-Rogers, Coral, Jade and Clay Foster, Misti and Tiffany Patrella. Great-grandchildren: Avery, Nolan & Arlena Radcliff and Francesca Patrella.
After graduating high school, Dale was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served as a military police officer in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge, Dale resided in Marion, Ohio in which he worked at Whirlpool for 33 years. He retired at the age of 62 and started and ran his own lawn business for 18 years. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 7201 in Marion.
Dale loved all sports, especially baseball, basketball and football. He loved being and working outdoors, gardening, traveling and socializing with friends and family. His dear and loving friend, Katie Dodrill was a huge part of Dale’s life. They enjoyed many years of fun and companionship.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
As Dale wished, Boyd-Born Funeral Home will handle the cremation and services will be provided with military honors by the Marion County United Veterans Council at a date to be announced.
