Dale L. Mawer

Dale L. Mawer, age 93 of Marion, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023 at his home. On April 7, 1929, he was born in Meeker, Ohio, to the late George Edward and Marjorie A. (Cheney) Mawer, and on June 30, 1967, he married his late wife, Maizie Marie (Robbins).

Dale worked as an inspector for Whirlpool for 37 years, and before that, he spent time as a farmer during his younger years. He was also a master clocksmith who could repair anything from the tiniest cuckoo clock to the most stately grandfather clock. Above all else, he was a man of God and a family man. He attended Central Baptist Church for many, many years, and he spread the Gospel until he could no longer speak the word.

Dale was an all-around good guy, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his sons Daniel and Stephen Mawer; his stepdaughter Lynn Lawrence; his grandchildren Matthew Mawer, Kelly Tamberino, and John Lawrence; five great-grandchildren; special niece Terry Joseph; his special soulmate Helen Gilliam; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Maizie Mawer, his parents Edward and Marjorie, his brother Richard Mawer, and his sisters Ruth Baker, Iva Cayton, and Irene Miller.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Central Baptist Church, 2816 Marion-Waldo Rd., Marion. Services will take place at 11:30 am at the church with burial to follow at Green Camp Cemetery.
