Danny Friend, Sr.

Danny Friend, Sr., age 82 of LaRue, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020 at the OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

Danny was born on April 30, 1938 to the late Elroy and Dorothy (Barnhart) Friend in Superior, Ohio.  On December 5, 1955, Danny married Naomi Bowen in Louisa, KY.

Danny retired from Armco Steel after working more than 20 years.  He was a deacon at the White Oaks Road Freewill Baptist Church.  Danny enjoyed being a member of the Rod Knockers Car Club of Marion, Ohio.  He will truly be missed by family and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Naomi Friend; his son: Danny Friend, Jr.; his brothers: Elroy Friend, Everett Friend, John Friend, Kenny Friend and Clarence Friend; and his sister: Hester May Straight.

Those who will cherish Danny’s memory include his nephew: Rodney Friend of LaRue, OH; his sisters: Darlene Endicott of Marion, OH, Janice Severt of Marion, OH and Reba Layne of Marion, OH.

Friends and family may come to honor Danny’s life on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 10:30am to 1pm at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.  Face masks are recommended, social distancing and 25-person occupancy will be observed during calling hours.  A graveside service will start at 1:30pm at the LaRue Cemetery with Rev. Brent Layne officiating.  Donations may be given in Danny’s memory to the American Heart Association.  The family would like to give a special thank you to family and friends.
