David Hush Obituary

David Matthew Hush, Sr., age 65 of Marion, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at his home. He was born on April 1, 1955 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Walter William Hush, Sr., and Doris Marie (Hawkins) Hush.

David worked for years as a cook and later as a maintenance man, and he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was an ordained minister and served in the role of associate pastor at the Slater Bible Chapel in Fort Myers, Florida.

He loved motorcycles, especially Harley Davidson, and he also loved his dog Caesar. He enjoyed music, and you could find him listening to just about anything that wasn’t too new. He was an experienced martial artist and had received an honorary Black Belt from both the House of the Bear and the American Jidokwan Association. His dedicated inspired his son to dedicate his life to martial arts as well.

He was proud to have played Santa Clause for the children, and he even did so this past year in spite of the challenges of doing so from home. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son David (Kathy) Hush, Jr., of Marion; his daughter Jeanne Kemp of Marysville; his brother Walter W. (Cherry) Hush, Jr., of Texas; his step-brother Howard Hush of Toledo; 4 grandchildren, including Genesis M. Kemp and Seth Kemp; his lifelong friends Tony Jenkins and Pastor Jimmy Hudson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Doris Hush; his son Thomas J. Hush; and his twin sister Rowena L. Rutherford.

A private memorial service will be held for the family on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 1 pm, and the public is welcome to watch at the following link: http://webcast.funeralvue.com/events/viewer/45128

The family would like to offer a special thank-you to the Hospice of Morrow County for their great care.
