Doris A Parish

Doris (Dodie) Anne Parish, 89, of Marion, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Marion Valley Post Acute. Born on August 22, 1936, in Marion, Ohio to Samuel and Evelyn Fryman, Doris grew up in Marion County. She went on to raise a family, worked at Quaker Oats for nearly 14 years, and then was a school bus driver for Pleasant School District where she worked for 25 years.
Doris was known to enjoy being outdoors with family and friends and spent many weekends relaxing at Hidden Lakes campground. With a pleasant smile and quiet generosity, that ensured you could feel welcome anytime. When at home she loved a good challenging jigsaw puzzle, a game of cards, her roses, an interest in her hummingbird collection, a weekly night out to the Bingo Hall was not uncommon.
Doris is survived by her sons Robert (Susan) Pitchford, Jr. and Mark (Holly) Pitchford; her daughter Karen (Juan) Gonzalez; stepdaughter Brenda Tharp; and stepson Brian Parish; 16 grandchildren; and her sister Gloria Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Parish, son James Pitchford, brothers Samuel Fryman, Jr. and Arthur Fryman; sisters Viginia Lane and Betty Ford; and her parents Samuel and Evelyn Fryman.
A remembrance memorial will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Boyd Funeral Home at 122 W. Columbia St., Marion, OH 43302. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
