Fred P. “Freddie” Franklin, age 50 of Marion, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021. He was born on April 29, 1970 to Sylvia (Plotner) Williams and the late Wallace Fred Franklin in Midland, Texas.
Freddie worked in construction for many years, most notably for H&H Construction, and he was a championship boxer right here in Marion, known by the name “Fast Freddie.” He loved kids, and he always wanted to be around his family. He was the kind of guy that everyone liked, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother Sylvia Williams; his sons Ryan and Tyler Franklin; his daughters Aubrie, Lauren, and Leslie Franklin; his brothers Paul (Tamara) Franklin, Wallace (Debbie) Sofka, and George (Shelley) Sofka; his sisters Connie (Don) Melton, Robin (Keith) Buck, Carmala (Will) Weisman, and Clara (Rick) Crawford; his granddaughter Rayna; his loving girlfriend Jackie Moore, who he lived with; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Wallace Franklin, his step-father Lonnie Williams, and his nephew Jacob Jackson.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 10 am to 11 am at Calvary Bible Baptist Church, 1419 Linn-Hipsher Rd., Marion. Services will take place at 11 am at the church with Pastor Floyd Radebaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
