Howard Gibson

Howard Gibson, age 76 of Marion, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Howard was born on February 28, 1944 to the late Dave and Freda (Terry) Gibson in Raven, KY.  On September 26, 1964, he married Paula Reed in Clintwood, VA.

Howard was a member of the White Oaks Road Freewill Baptist Church in Marion, OH. He retired from the Whirlpool Corporation as an Automated Line Mechanic after 38 years. He enjoyed playing guitars and singing. Howard loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Howard will truly be missed by family and friends.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Bruce Gibson and Alger Gibson; and a sister: Ima Roberts.

Those who will cherish his memories include his wife of 56 years: Paula (Reed) Gibson of Marion, OH; his son: Jeff (Marvel) H. Gibson of Marion, OH; his daughter: Alisa (Devin) Needles of Marion, OH; his brother: Doug (Ann) Gibson of Marion, OH; his sisters: Willa (Orville) Moore of Dema, KY, Lydia Hoskins, Anita (Grover) Caudill and Nancy (Chuck) Campbell, all from Marion, OH; his seven grandchildren: Jeff (Kim) Gibson, II, Mackenzie (Ryan) Crisler, Jerrod Gibson, Alayna (Cody) Bartes, Hali (Corey) Galyk, Alex (Olivia) Salyer and Lauren (Harrison) Watkins; and his seventeen great grandchildren.

Due to current Covid restrictions, a private family service will be held. All friends and family are welcome to attend a graveside service at 12:15 pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Grand Prairie Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Howard’s memory to the Central Ohio ALS Association.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.boydbornfuneralhome.  The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Gibson family.
