John R. Draper, Jr. died June 1, 2020 in Columbus, OH. He was born to the late John and Helen Draper on June 30, 1947, in Marion, Ohio.
On September 10, 1965, in Wise, Virginia, he married his love, companion, and friend, Nichola McIntosh. He graduated from Marion Harding High School, Class of 1966 and was employed in the maintenance department at Whirlpool for forty-three years before retiring in May of 2009. He also coached men’s and girls’ softball teams in Marion for over 15 years.
John is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Nickie. He is survived by his two brothers, Dan (Jan) Draper and Roger Draper of Marion, OH; a son, John (Dawn) Draper of Richwood, OH; Three daughters, Jennifer (Brett) Tennar of Mt. Gilead, OH, Jill (Jacob) Brewer and Stephanie (Vince) DeGood, of Marion, OH; eleven grandchildren, Kayla and Mike Troiano, Rylee Ratliff, Layken Curry, Bailey and Stewart Youn, Carsonh Newel, Nolan Draper, Alexis, and Gabby, and Grace DeGood; seven great-grandchildren, Jayden, Mellanie, Paislee, Kanton, Kole, Waylon, and Avery; and his sidekick, Maggie-Mo, his loyal dog.
John’s favorite saying was “Our children are the rainbow and our grandchildren are the pot of gold.” John was a firm believer that family was the most important thing that a person could in his lifetime. (Now family members will have to have a pick someone else to sign “Happy Birthday”.
