Judy G. Johnson

Judy G. Johnson, age 82 of Marion, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Kobacker House. She was born on August 5, 1941 in Pontiac, Michigan, to the late Harlo and Beulah (Stephens) Phipps.

Judy worked as an X-ray tech and mammographer for the Smith Clinic for 32 years, but her career began much earlier during her time in Michigan. She was very involved at her church, Central Baptist, and she was part of the philanthropic sorority LCO both in Michigan and in Ohio. She enjoyed playing the dulcimer and working as a skilled woodcarver with the Whetstone Woodcarvers.

She is survived by her daughter Kimberly (Dean) Aldridge; her sons James (Stephanie) Hutchings and Troy (Kim) Hutchings; her stepdaughter Sheryl Johnson; her sister Linda (Bob) Hickey; her grandchildren Aaron (Autumn Roberts) Aldridge, Tiffanie (Paul Calevro) Hutchings, Joshua Hutchings, Olivia Hutchings, Madison Johnson, Casey (Jen Ausmus) Mackay, and Madison Mackay; and her great-grandchildren EmmaRae, Joshua, James, Levi, and Colton.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert L. Hutchings, her second husband Robert L. Johnson, her parents Harlo and Beulah Phipps, her sister Rosanna (Clare) Blades, and her brother Eugene Phipps.

Family and friends may gather to honor Judy’s memory on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 12:30 pm to 1 pm at Central Baptist Church, 2816 Marion-Waldo Rd., Marion. A memorial service will follow at 1 pm at the church.
