Phillip Gene Blanton

Phillip Gene Blanton, 89, of Marion, OH, passed away in the care of the Marion General Hospital on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. On November 30, 1936, he was born to his parents, George B. Conley and Lola Blanton, in Paintsville, KY. 

Phillip was a hardworking man his entire life. He worked for Quaker Oats for 34 and a half years and farmhand for a friend. In his free time, he was known to drive his golf cart around his neighborhood. He also enjoyed horseback riding, camping, watching his OSU Buckeyes, and having a good time. Above all, he was a loving and caring father and grandfather. 

Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, son Keith Blanton, daughter, Debra, sister, Glenna, and his stepsisters, Joyce, Edith Ann, and his stepbrother, Joe.

Left to remember the love and good times are his children; Sandy (Dave) Davenport of Bucyrus, OH, Tim Blanton of Marion, OH, Pam Strause of Marion, OH, Brenda Caudy of Ashland, OH, Vicki (Steve) of Vanbenthuysen of Somerset, KY, grandchildren; Chris Blanton, Becky Neville, Matt Blanton, Shantel Blanton, Valerie McQuillen, Daniel Blanton, Ruger Vanbenthuysen, and Derrick Raver, and his great grandchildren; Logan, Alivia, Avery, Kolin, Jakob, Sophie, Ellie, Brooks, Bo, and his 10th one due in February 2027.

The Blanton family would like to invite Phillip’s loved ones and family to join them for calling hours at the Boyd Funeral Home on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with an hour break until 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the White Oaks Free Will Baptist Church on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 12 p.m. Phillip will be laid to rest at the Radnor Cemetery in Radnor, OH. Pastor Kevin McCoy will be officiating all services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help them through this hard time.
