Ralph J. Cellar

     Ralph J. Cellar, age 76, of Marion passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 4:06 PM at his residence. Ralph was born in Delaware, Ohio on August 13, 1947 to the late John R. and Loretta (Keeran) Cellar. Ralph attended Pleasant High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married the former Shirley Jean VanSickle on June 5, 1966 in Marion and she preceded him in death on September 24, 2013.

     Ralph was an outdoorsman. He truly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his wife Shirley in the U. P. of Michigan. In his younger years, Ralph was deeply involved in drag racing. He was employed for 46 years as a machinist, starting work at Universal Auto Parts and retiring from Napa Auto Parts in 2013.  He was also deeply involved in farming in the Marion area, assisting farmers with machinery repair, planting, and harvesting.

     Ralph is survived by a daughter, Kathy Sullivan of Prospect, OH., a granddaughter, Kelsea (Dane) Potter of Zenia, OH., and a sister, Margaret Waterer of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley, a son, Jeffrey Cellar, a sister, Dee Manley, and 4 brothers, Bob, Ron, Bud, & Richard Cellar.

     The family will be receiving friends to celebrate his life at the Boyd Funeral Home on Friday, April 19, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A private family burial will take place at a later date in the LaRue Cemetery. Contributions in Ralph’s name may be made to the Am. Cancer Society or to the Am. Heart Association.
