Richard Obenour Obituary
MARION: Richard K. Obenour, age 86, of Marion, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, July 07, 2026 at Marion General Hospital.
He was born May 9, 1940 in Marion, Ohio to the late Myron Glenn Obenour and Margaret J. Obenour (Kirkpatrick).
On May 5, 1962 in Marion, OH he married Charlotte Kathlene Litzenberg and they were married 64 years.
Richard owned The House of Photography Studio and enjoyed taking photographs throughout his life. He later built onto and remodeled that studio into a family home. He retired from Union Tank Car and opened the Obenour cabinet shop because he loved wood working. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling.
He is survived by two children, William Obenour and Judy (David) Strayer of Marion, OH; one sister Janis K. (Edward) McNabb of Eldon, Mo.; two grandchildren, Jessica (Philip) Butler and Mikaela (Christian Sheridan) Strayer; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Allen Obenour.
There will be no services at this time, burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date. The Boyd Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 29th at the Knights of Columbus 671 from 1pm to 3pm.
