Richard Snyder Obituary

Richard Leroy “Shorty” Snyder, age 88 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. On September 5, 1931, he was born to the late George and Alta Mae (Miley) Snyder in Marion, and on April 8, 1956, he married his wife Lulu Belle (Chapman).

Richard served in the United States Air Force, and he worked at Whirlpool for 40 years. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting elephants, and gardening. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he was very loved by his family and anyone else who wanted to adopt him.

He is survived by his daughters Christine (Pat) Eber and Patty (Leonard) Brown; his son Richard (Charletta) Snyder; his sister Donna Miracle; his grandchildren Kaylen (Ben), Steven, Amanda (Alex), Nicholas, Brandon (Rachel), Tyler (Madison), and John (Felicia); and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lulu Belle Snyder, his parents, brothers and sisters, his son Michael, and his granddaughter Sandy.

A private service will be held by the family with burial to follow at Marion Cemetery. A public service for his extended family and friends will be held this summer when restrictions are lifted.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the Boyd-Born Funeral Home to cover funeral expenses.
