Roberta "Sis" Marie Grate

Roberta “Sis” Marie Grate, of Marion, passed away on May 30, 2023, from complications with Alzheimer’s at the age of 79. She was born May 2, 1944, to the late Robert and Hazel Grate. 

            She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Dale) Oller, two sons, Robert (Nora) Oller and Michael (Amber) Oller, eleven grandchildren: Christopher Parker, Donald Butz, John (Naomi) Holman, Jeremy (Laura) Boldin, Jacob Boldin, Jared (Nicole) Boldin, Gennette (Freddy) Santiago, Jessica (Shawn) Dennis, Bridget (Ruben) Oller, Dillan Oller, Abrianna Oller, and thirteen great grandchildren.

            She was employed in multiple professions, but if you knew Sis, she loved talking about her career at Honda. She took great pride in the work she performed and the people she met while working there. For many years she had a Pampered Chef side-business. We’re sure many reading this have something she gave you or sold you from Pampered Chef. She adored her “Pampered” license plate.

            She loved canvas needlepoint, word-find puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles, but most of all, she loved her grandchildren. Being a grandparent was her gift to this world and she truly cherished every minute she spent with her grandchildren. For better or worse, her “tell it like it is”/no-filter attitude has been passed down for generations to come, but at the end of the day, we’ll all miss her smile and the wink that accompanied it.

            Preceding her in death was her sister, Brenda Tillis. Surviving siblings are two brothers, Marion (Chris) Grate and Keever (Marsha) Grate, and two sisters, Margo Osborne and Marla (Matthew) Chambers. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

            Family and friends may call at Boyd Funeral Home on June 6, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM with Matthew Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at the Marion Cemetery. A link to the live stream service will be available on the funeral home’s website, for those not able to attend the service in person.
