Terry Lee Utley

Terry Lee Utley, age 67 passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at his residence.

Terry entered this world on May 8, 1952 to Arthur and Shirley Utley of Marion, OH. 

Terry worked at WestRock for over 20 years, as a forklift operator, never missing a day.  He loved his fellow co-workers like family.  We would like to thank them for their love and support.  It meant so much to Terry to be able to go back to work those last three months.

Golf was such a huge part of Terry’s life and he made many good friends.  He loved the game whether he won or lost; but he loved it more when he won.  He looked forward all year long to the trips to Santee.  Teeing off on Saturday morning rain, snow or 90 degrees, he was out there.  He loved his golf buddies and we thank them for their love and support.

He missed his brother, Nelson, and his argumentative and competitive spirit so very much.  I am sure they teed off at 9:00 am this past Saturday morning with Nelson being five minutes late.

Jayne would like to thank everyone that ever played a game of golf, horseshoes, corn hole, pool or danced a dance with him because I know he loved and enjoyed every minute.

It cannot be put into words the love Terry had for his family. Rickie, Jackie, Amanda, Zachary, Stevie and Alessa, he will be watching over you every day.  He will truly be missed by all his family and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother: Shirley Utley; father-in-law: James Black; brother: Nelson Utley and brothers-in-law John Black and Edward Leiter.

Those who will cherish Terry’s memories include his wife: Jayne Utley of Cincinnati, OH; his father: Arthur Utley of South Point, OH; his son: Rickie and Jackie Utley of Marion, OH; his sisters: Artie and Dave Layne of Marion, OH; and Karen Truitt and Tim White of Beaver Falls, PA; his brothers: Larry and Naomi Utley of South Point, OH, David Utley of Marion, OH, Gene and Paula Utley of Marion, OH, Danny and Pam Utley of Heath, Texas; his grandchildren: Amanda, Zachary and Stevie Utley all of Marion, OH; his great grandchild: Alessa Rife of Marion, OH; his mother-in-law: Eleanor Black of Marysville, OH; his sisters-in-law: Sharon Utley of Marion, OH, Carol Utley of Middletown, OH, Joyce Leiter and Harold Kinniard of Marysville, OH, Judy Scheiver of Marysville, OH, Joann and Verlin Swain of Crown City, OH and Pam Black and Andrew Castle of LaRue, OH; his brothers-in-law: James and Vivian Black of West Mansfield, OH, Earl and Melanie Black of Mechanicsburg, OH and Chuck and Tony Black of Marysville, OH.

Friends and family may come to honor Terry’s life on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 11am to 1pm at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow starting at 1pm at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan R. McBeth officiating.  Donations may be given in Terry’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
