Wayne M. Layne SR.

     Wayne M. Layne Sr., age 72, of Marion passed away at his residence on Friday, January 8, 2021, at 7:25 AM. He was born in Marion, Ohio on August 25, 1948 to the late Simeon R. and Corabelle (Hodge) Layne. Wayne married the former Ellen D. Palmer in Marion, Ohio on December 4, 2014 and she survives.

     He was employed for over 30 years as a truck driver for Sims Brothers before his retirement in 2014. Wayne enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and a good barbecue. He loved children, the Lord, and reading scripture.  Wayne is survived by his wife, Ellen, a son; Wayne M. (Karen) Layne Jr. of Wellington, OH., 2 daughters; Lisa A. Hensley & Loretta J. Conway both of Elyria, OH., 5 brothers; Edgar R. (Sue) Layne, Thomas E. (Jenny) Layne, Ronald J. Layne, Larry A. (Tina) Layne, & William L. Layne all of Marion, OH., 2 sisters; Rosalee Huston & Teresa M. (Chris) Thompson both of Marion, OH., 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces & nephews. He was a wonderful husband and a loving & devoted father. Wayne was preceded in death by a sister; Brenda Sue Coleman and a grandson; Jerry Little.

     Rev. Edgar Layne will conduct a graveside service on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the Grand Prairie Cemetery. No visiting hours will be observed. Donations in honor of Wayne may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.
